Cat Treats vs Healthy Cat Food

When you have a cat, you are obviously concerned about what food to give him. Sometimes you feel you like your cat has been extremely nice, and that he should be allowed to have a special treat, but on the other hand you care a lot about him, and are worried that a treat will not be healthy for him.

First of all what you must know, is that giving healthy food to your cat is very important. It can extend the cats life of several years. For your information i have a dog, and have been giving him healthy food furing most of his life, and he is now 19 years old! crazy hey? Well for cats its the same.

My recommendation is to go and see a vet, who will see how your cat is, and will tell you what food you should give him depending on his weight, his age and health condition. Thats the first step to take. You are probably wondering whether you will be able to give him cat treats occasionaly? Well there all depends what you mean by occasionaly. In my opinion, you can give a small treat to your cat once a week but be careful of the quantities (they should be small comparend to what he usualy eats). What you can do is give something the cat really likes with another diet meal. For example i give sometimes some vegetables (he loves it), which are in fact good for his health! Your cat will be really happy, and you will have given him healthy food overall. Thats my advice, and all of my animals have lived a long time. Nevertheless becareful when giving cat treats, make sure they are good but light cat food (not too greasy or bad for him).

The treat form is a fish which is also attractive, but be careful you do not have real gold fishes in your house otherwise your cat might get mixt up and eat one of them!

Chosing the right food and treat for your cat is important for the health of your cat. Treats are a good way to show cats that you care for them, and also a good way to treat them when they have been nice. Nevertheless it is important to chose good treats for the health of your cat otherwise his health might be at risk! Giving too many treats is not recommended. Treats must be given occassionaly in supplement to healthy food. I will give you a few tips on how to chose your cat treats.

The first major feature to take into consideration is the quality of the ingredients of your cat treat. Making sure the treat has low calories will be benifitial for your cat especially if he has weight problems. Overall the best is a treat with low calories but with balanced healthy ingredients. After in order to make your treat as much appealing as possible for your cat, chose the treats with the flavour you know your cat likes.

Another key element when chosing your cat treat is making sure it is veterinarian and AAFCO approved. Any products with these labels can be considered as healthy products for your cat. Please avoid those without these approvals.

Finally the last element to take into consideration is the price of the treat. I know you like your cat, but this is not a reason to spend too much money on your cat. Products which are expensive do not always mean they are of good quality as sometimes they can simply be expensive to steal your money. Medium to high priced products are in general the best quality products!

So... Its time to go and buy a nice heavy treat for your fat old cat now! Hope my advices were useful.
